Youth Development Professional: ROOTS Austin

The Youth Development Professionals role is providing daily programs, services and activities for Program Site participants, which are consistent with the organization’s youth development mission and goals. Youth development Professionals are primarily, but not exclusively, responsible for youth supervision, developing positive, productive relationships with students and overseeing the delivery of a broad range of programs such as Education, Social Recreation, Arts & Crafts, Sports-Fitness & Recreation and Healthy Lifestyles. 

This person will work closely with the Site Coordinator to plan & implement designated programs and activities that support Youth Development Outcomes for youth.  The person will maintain program goals that ensure the health and safety of participants.  The Youth Development Professional reports to the Site Coordinator.

Desired Documented Work Experience in:

  • Youth Development
  • Communicating with parents, students, employees and others;
  • Telephone etiquette;
  • Related study or work experience field;
  • Class-room management;
  • Basic Computers;
  • Working with little supervision.

Qualifications: 

  • Some College or currently enrolled in a related field of study preferred;

Transportation Services:  Bus Driver (Texas Preparatory School – Austin)

The Transportation Services Bus Driver; provides safe and efficient transportation services to Texas Preparatory School students and ROOTS Austin program members. A successful applicant will have a high school diploma or equivalent, current CDL license with passenger endorsement, clean driving record, and experience operating a school bus. This position works 25-30 hours per week with occasional field trips, evenings and weekends as needed. This person obeys all State and Federal Traffic regulations and laws, uses effective defensive driving techniques, attends and completes all required training to obtain & maintain safety and driver certification.

Education/Certification

Part-time Custodial Substitute

This position requires the maintaining of an attractive, sanitary and safe facility for students, staff and public; providing equipment and furniture arrangements for meetings, classroom activities and events; and minimizing property damage, loss and facility structure.

Position requires ability to perform multiple, not-technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skills required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating equipment used in industrial maintenance including electrical cleaning equipment, common tools, landscaping equipment, etc.; and adhering to safety practices.

Qualifications:
• High school diploma or its equivalent;
• At least one year of experience in custodian field;
• Must be able to pass a background check and satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting check prior to starting employment;

Work Schedule: This position will serve as a substitute for staff that work the following shifts, 7:30 am – 4:30 pm, 4:30 – 8:30 pm, 6 – 10 pm Monday through Friday and occasional weekends.

Working Conditions:
Work inside and outside; prolonged standing and walking; lifting and carrying; some organization local travel as assigned. Lift/move approximately 30 – 50 pounds. Other physical activities may be required.

Graphic Designer

The Graphic Designer is a contractor who will work with our Marketing Operations Team to create and design digital media content that can be used in all aspects of the organization. The Graphic Designer must understand graphic design and possess skills in a variety of multimedia software programs. The contractor must be able to work independently, as well as within a team, complete tasks timely and work within client print and brand specifications.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop designs and layouts for other marketing communications needs including but not limited to: logos, flyers, web graphics, web design, brochures, signs, postcards, booklets, videos, and informational and educational material by using your creative strategies alongside established design rules and principles.
  • Be able to edit and implement photos for project outlines. 
  • Work closely with the Marketing Operations team to meet project deadlines.
  • Be capable of multi-tasking and creating a plan to achieve all necessary assignments by assigned due dates.
  • Completes other graphic design projects as assigned 

 

Requirements:

  • Creative self-starter who is comfortable with both taking initiative and working in collaboration.

Social Media (Contractor)

The Social Media Contractor will work with our Marketing Operations Team to maintain the BGCSCT presence on various social media platforms and help create and publish content that is relevant to our community. He/she will regularly analyze and report on the activity on social media networks as well as our various websites. He/she will also assist in maintaining BGCSCT archive of digital images, videos, and other content. The Social Media Contractor will learn how to reach communities, and promote events or programs through the internet and gain experience in social media platforms and the tools used to assess their performance. The contractor must be able to work independently, as well as within a team, complete tasks timely and work within client print and brand specifications.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

Social Media

  • Updates Facebook, YouTube, Snapchat, Instagram and Twitter accounts. 
  • Responds to posts or comments to bring value to user’s interactions with the organizations different social media sites.
  • Posts updates, news and announcements in a timely manner using appropriate content. 
  • Performs research to find articles, stories, resources, or other content that is relevant to our community to post it to all platforms in a manner that invites conversation and interaction. 
  • Updates social media accounts with current and relevant photos, video, or other content from BGCSCT activities and events.
  • Grows BGCSCT online social networks by increasing fan-base and interactions.
  • Completes all other social media projects as assigned

 

Digital Media:

  • Takes pictures and videos of events and develop into content for the BGCSCT websites and social media pages.

Web Designer (Contractor)

The Web Designer is an independent contractor who will work remotely with the Marketing Operations Team to create and maintain all of the organization’s websites. The Web designer will assist in designing the web page layout, determining technical requirements needed for improvements, provide updates to the websites, create backup files, monitoring SEO and all other website related tasks. This includes, but not limited to, overall navigation flow, layout of specific pages, and creation of individual graphic elements and updating sites as needed.


Duties and Responsibilities

 

Web Design 

  • WordPress theme and development implementation 
  • Familiar with domain hostings such as network solutions 
  • Working knowledge of HTML, CSS
  • Maintain/update current wordpress sites
  • Work and customize wordpress plugins
