San Marcos: Transportation Services – Bus Driver

The Transportation Services Bus Driver; provides safe and efficient transportation services to BGCSCT Club members and Texas Preparatory School students. A successful applicant will have a high school diploma or equivalent, current CDL license with passenger endorsement, clean driving record, and experience operating a school bus. This position works 25 hours per week with occasional field trips, evenings and weekends as needed. This person obeys all State and Federal Traffic regulations and laws, uses effective defensive driving techniques, attends and completes all required training to obtain & maintain safety and driver certification.

Education/Certification

  • High School Diploma or its equivalent;
  • Knowledge of routes; Ability to interpret schedules, forms and maps;
  • Must be able to pass a background check;
  • Must be able to pass drug testing procedures;
  • Have a clean driving record (Department of Public Safety);
  • Texas School Bus Drivers Certification or CDL License with Passenger Endorsement.

Desired Documented Work Experience:

  • Mass-passenger transport;
  • Basic Vehicle Maintenance;
  • Student Rider behavior management;
  • Working with little supervision.

Major Responsibilities

  1. Work closely with the Transportation Director to plan & implement Transportation throughout the Academic Year and summer.
  2. Maintain vehicles and report necessary vehicle service to the Transportation Director.

Day Custodian (San Marcos)

This position requires the maintaining of an attractive, sanitary and safe facility for students, staff and public; providing equipment and furniture arrangements for meetings, classroom activities and events; and minimizing property damage, loss and facility structure.

Position requires ability to perform multiple, not-technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skills required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating equipment used in industrial maintenance including electrical cleaning equipment, common tools, landscaping equipment, etc.; and adhering to safety practices. The Day Custodian reports to Director of Programs & Operations.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or its equivalent;
  • At least one year of experience in custodian field;
  • Must be able to pass a background check and satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting check prior to starting employment;
  • Have a clean driving record (Department of Public Safety);
  • Ability to adjust to new job responsibilities & tasks as assigned and work unsupervised.

Working Conditions:

  • Physical Demands include but are not limited to the following: work inside and outside; prolonged standing and walking; lifting and carrying; lift/move approximately 30 – 50 pounds.
  • Other physical activities may be required
  • In-district travel as assigned and occasional out of district travel.

Additional Skills: Must be able to promote teamwork and interaction with fellow staff members, maintain personal appearance and hygiene; ability to assume leadership and establish appropriate limits for children and enforce them in a positive manner.

The Art Program Instructor role is providing daily programs, services and activities for BGCSCT students & club members, which are consistent with the organization’s youth development mission and goals. The Art Program Instructor is primarily, but not exclusively, responsible for youth supervision, developing positive, productive relationships with students and overseeing the delivery of the BGCSCT Art Curriculum within the Texas Preparatory School & San Marcos Units.

This person will work closely with the Program Director & TPS Education Director to plan & implement art activities & events that support Youth Development Outcomes for Kinder – 6th grade students of Texas Preparatory School and BGCSCT After School CLUB members in K – 8th grades. The person will maintain Club program goals that insure the health and safety of members. The Art Instructor reports to the Site Coordinator.

  • Communicating with parents, students, employees and others;
  • Telephone etiquette;
  • Planning activities, events;
  • Related study or work experience field;
  • Class-room management;
