The San Marcos Extension After School Program provides a safe place for kids to learn and grow every day after school. Statistics show that 15.1 million kids in America are left unsupervised after school. In our country, three out of 10 kids are considered to be obese or overweight. Also, juvenile crime escalates between the hours of 3 and 7 pm. Our club is open when kids need us most, and it provides a wide range of programming that equips members to be those statistics. Members have access to programs in five core areas: Character & Leadership, Education & Career, Health & Life Skills, The Arts, and Fitness & Recreation.

Space is limited. Register today.

Power Hour

Power Hour: Making Minutes Count helps Club members ages 6-18 achieve academic success by providing homework help, tutoring and high-yield learning activities and encouraging members to become self-directed learners under the guidance of dedicated youth development professionals and volunteers.

TEXAS AIM

TEXAS AIM improves academic success by providing tutoring, mentoring, and support to students who are at risk under the guidance of our Sylvan Learning Partners. Our program inspires youth through hands-on learning in math, reading, science and engineering. This program transforms after-school time and summer time into educational times for kids to catch up, keep up, and get ahead.

Triple Play

More than just Sports & Recreation, Triple Play delivers on the belief that whole child health fosters young people’s ability to gain diverse knowledge, skills, and protective factors that enable them to overcome barriers and thrive in adulthood. Through fun and engaging activities, the program delivers health education and programming that promotes the importance of physical activity and proper nutrition. It also focuses on the underlying causes that negatively impact health by enabling youth to develop life-long skills that are foundational to their present and future success.

SMART Moves

The SMART Moves (Skills Mastery and Resistance Training) prevention/education program addresses problems such as drug and alcohol use and premature sexual activity. The program uses a team approach involving Club staff, peer leaders, parents and community representatives. More than simply emphasizing a “say no” message, the program teaches young people ages 6 to 15 how to say no by involving them in discussion and role-playing, practicing resistance and refusal skills, developing assertiveness, strengthening decision-making skills and analyzing media and peer influence.

DIY S.T.E.M

DIY STEM is a hands-on, activity-based STEM curriculum which connects youth to science themes they encounter regularly. Special attention is paid to connections of theory and application and the common interactions members have with these scientific principles.
