San Marcos Intern Postings

Videographer (Unpaid Intern)

We are looking for an experienced videographer in our area who can take a wide range of video clips for our many events. The videographer will work close with the Marketing Coordinator; a shot lists will be provided. The ideal candidate will have experience taking detailed clips, crowd video clips, live action clips, and lifestyle clips etc. We believe a special event videographer will have the necessary skills, but will also consider any videographer that has a portfolio of the different types of clips we need. 

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Experience with events & youth organizations is preferred but not required
  • Experience with finding and using natural light (if natural light is available). If natural light is not available, experience with using lighting equipment to mimic natural lighting conditions.
  • Experience with recording both small and large events. This includes positioning oneself at the perfect angles, shooting different angles, and choosing the right background.
  • Experience with lifestyle/people recording
  • Experience with video editing.

Requirements:

  • Creative self-starter who is comfortable with both taking initiative and working in collaboration.
  • Must have portfolio
  • Must have own equipment
  • Great attention to detail when recording videos
  • Ability to work without supervision. 
  • Must be able to work nights and weekends

Web Designer (Unpaid Intern)

The Web Designer is an intern who will work remotely with the Marketing Operations Team to create and maintain all of the organization’s websites. The Web designer will assist in designing the web page layout, determining technical requirements needed for improvements, provide updates to the websites, create backup files, monitoring SEO and all other website related tasks. This includes, but not limited to, overall navigation flow, layout of specific pages, and creation of individual graphic elements and updating sites as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities

Web Design 

  • WordPress theme and development implementation 
  • Familiar with domain hostings such as network solutions 
  • Working knowledge of HTML, CSS
  • Maintain/update current wordpress sites
  • Work and customize wordpress plugins 
  • Understanding of SEO current and best standards 
  • Experience with SSL
  • Ability to create visually appealing aesthetics 
  • Able to defend design decisions while remaining open to constructive feedback
  • Stay up-to-date on web design trends; be comfortable suggesting new and different solutions
  • Open communication is a must
  • Ability to attend marketing meeting when necessary (located on the San Marcos campus)
  • Complete all other web designer projects as assigned

Qualifications 

 

  • 3+ years of professional web design experience required;
  • College degree (Design, Marketing, Computer Science, Communications majors preferred);
  • Online portfolio required to demonstrate creative and technical skills;
  • Must be able to pass a background check;

Social Media (Unpaid Intern)

The Social Media Intern will work with our Marketing Operations Team to maintain the BGCSCT presence on various social media platforms and help create and publish content that is relevant to our community. He/she will regularly analyze and report on the activity on social media networks as well as our various websites. He/she will also assist in maintaining BGCSCT archive of digital images, videos, and other content. The Social Media Contractor will learn how to reach communities, and promote events or programs through the internet and gain experience in social media platforms and the tools used to assess their performance. The contractor must be able to work independently, as well as within a team, complete tasks timely and work within client print and brand specifications.

Duties and Responsibilities

Social Media

  • Updates Facebook, YouTube, Snapchat, Instagram and Twitter accounts. 
  • Responds to posts or comments to bring value to user’s interactions with the organizations different social media sites.
  • Posts updates, news and announcements in a timely manner using appropriate content. 
  • Performs research to find articles, stories, resources, or other content that is relevant to our community to post it to all platforms in a manner that invites conversation and interaction. 
  • Updates social media accounts with current and relevant photos, video, or other content from BGCSCT activities and events.
  • Grows BGCSCT online social networks by increasing fan-base and interactions.
  • Completes all other social media projects as assigned

 

Digital Media:

  • Takes pictures and videos of events and develop into content for the BGCSCT websites and social media pages.
  • Uploads BGCSCT photos and videos to the appropriate server. 
  • Organizes and archives digital images and videos.
  • Completes other digital media projects as assigned

Requirements:

  • Creative self-starter who is comfortable with both taking initiative and working in collaboration. 
  • Detail oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Background in Marketing, Communication or other related disciplines. 
  • Organized, with an ability to prioritize time-sensitive assignments. 
  • Familiarity with most social networking sites.
  • Ability to work without supervision. 
  • The individual must be available to attend scheduled meetings at the San Marcos Campus in person as requested.
  • Work evenings and weekend events as scheduled.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or its equivalent; 
  • Pass a background;
  • Have a valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to adjust to new job responsibilities as assigned.

Graphic Designer (Unpaid Intern)

The Graphic Designer is an intern who will work with our Marketing Operations Team to create and design digital media content that can be used in all aspects of the organization. The Graphic Designer must understand graphic design and possess skills in a variety of multimedia software programs. The contractor must be able to work independently, as well as within a team, complete tasks timely and work within client print and brand specifications.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop designs and layouts for other marketing communications needs including but not limited to: logos, flyers, web graphics, web design, brochures, signs, postcards, booklets, videos, and informational and educational material by using your creative strategies alongside established design rules and principles.
  • Be able to edit and implement photos for project outlines. 
  • Work closely with the Marketing Operations team to meet project deadlines.
  • Be capable of multi-tasking and creating a plan to achieve all necessary assignments by assigned due dates.
  • Completes other graphic design projects as assigned 

Requirements:

  • Creative self-starter who is comfortable with both taking initiative and working in collaboration. 
  • Background in Graphic Design or other related disciplines. 
  • Organized, with an ability to prioritize time-sensitive assignments. 
  • Ability to work without supervision

  • Illustrator: 1 year
  • Photoshop: 1 year
  • Product Development: 1 year

Qualifications:

  • Some College or currently enrolled in a related field of study;
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office; Word, Excel, Publisher etc.
  • Pass a background check;
  • Have a valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to adjust to new job responsibilities as assigned.
