The Luling After School Program provides a safe place for kids to learn and grow every day after school. Statistics show that 15.1 million kids in America are left unsupervised after school. In our country, three out of 10 kids are considered to be obese or overweight. Also, juvenile crime escalates between the hours of 3 and 7 pm. Our club is open when kids need us most, and it provides a wide range of programming that equips members to be those statistics. Members have access to programs in five core areas: Character & Leadership, Education & Career, Health & Life Skills, The Arts, and Fitness & Recreation.

Power Hour: Making Minutes Count

If you ask our Club members why they like coming to the Boys & Girls Club, many of them would say ecstatically, “I get to finish my homework!” Power Hour helps Club members be more successful in school with homework help and tutoring. As YPDs implement this program, they encourage members to become self-directed learners through positive reinforcement and incentives.

Healthy Habits

Designed to incorporate healthy living and active learning in every part of the Club experience, Healthy Habits emphasizes good nutrition, regular physical activity and improving overall well-being. The program, for ages 6 to 15, is the Mind component of Triple Play: A Game Plan for the Mind, Body and Soul.

SMART Girls

An outgrowth of the popular and effective SMART Moves program, SMART Girls is a health, fitness, prevention/education and self-esteem enhancement program for girls ages 8 to 17. The program is designed to encourage healthy attitudes and lifestyles that will enable early adolescent girls to develop to their full potential.

Passport to Manhood

Passport to Manhood promotes and teaches responsibility in Club boys ages 11 to 14. Passport to Manhood consists of 14 sessions, each concentrating on a specific aspect of character and manhood through highly interactive activities. Club participants receive a “passport” to underscore the notion that he is on a personal journey of maturation and growth. The program includes a service project where boys learn the importance of giving back to the community. Passport to Manhood represents a targeted effort to engage young boys in discussions and activities that reinforce character, leadership and positive behavior.

SMART Moves

The SMART Moves (Skills Mastery and Resistance Training) prevention/education program addresses problems such as drug and alcohol use and premature sexual activity. The program uses a team approach involving Club staff, peer leaders, parents and community representatives. More than simply emphasizing a “say no” message, the program teaches young people ages 6 to 15 how to say no by involving them in discussion and role-playing, practicing resistance and refusal skills, developing assertiveness, strengthening decision-making skills and analyzing media and peer influence.

Money Matters

Money Matters promotes financial responsibility and independence among Teen members ages 13 to 18.  Participants learn how to manage a checking account, create a budget, save and invest, start small businesses and pay for college.  Money Matters is instrumental is helping our teens better understand key fundamentals of entrepreneurship through our BGCSCT T-Shirt Shop

Career Launch

Career Launch prepares teens for the world of careers and work.  Through CareerLaunch, Club teens 13-18 years old embark on a journey to explore possible vocations, make sound educational decisions and find success in the world of work.  Through Career Launch, our Teens get first-hand experience through job-shadowing opportunities at local retail and small businesses.

Power Hour: Making Minutes Count provides Club Teens engaging homework help and tutoring that encourages them to become self-directed learners. 

Torch Club

Torch Club is a teen led leadership and service club for Teens in 6th – 8th grades.  Torch Club is the stepping stone to for many teens to display leadership and sound decision making within their communities.  Torch Club members create and promote  events for Teens and their communities, participate in community service and advocacy.  Torch Club helps the Club to meet the special character development needs of younger Teens at a critical stage in their life. 

Keystone Club

Keystone Club is the ultimate teen program for teens in grades 9-12.  This leadership group program provides leadership development opportunities for youth to participate in activities in three focus areas: academic success, career preparation and community service.  With the guidance of an adult advisor, Keystone Clubs aim to positively impact teens, their Club and local communities.  

My.Future

MY.Future is a creative and innovative way for Club teens to learn and collaborate online.   Experiences that are part Staff facilitated, part self-led experiences and digital gaming help teens learn digital skills that will serve them well in today’s workforce.  Members can showcase their digital creations and earn recognition in the form of stars, badges and master badges locally and nationally free from the prospect of cyberbullying. 

Junior Staff

Junior Staff is a small-group program that is both practical and user friendly.  It assists Club Teens in grades 9th – 12th in exploring a career in youth development or human services, particularly Boys & Girls Club work.  This opportunity is available to Club Teens that have shown commitment to their Club and a determination to leave a positive impact on their community.

TEXAS AIM improves academic success by providing tutoring, mentoring, and support to students who are at risk under the guidance of our Sylvan Learning Partners. Our program inspires youth through hands-on learning in math, reading, science and engineering. This program transforms after-school time and summer time into educational times for kids to catch up, keep up, and get ahead.

Triple Play

More than just Sports & Recreation, Triple Play delivers on the belief that whole child health fosters young people’s ability to gain diverse knowledge, skills, and protective factors that enable them to overcome barriers and thrive in adulthood. Through fun and engaging activities, the program delivers health education and programming that promotes the importance of physical activity and proper nutrition. It also focuses on the underlying causes that negatively impact health by enabling youth to develop life-long skills that are foundational to their present and future success.

Cooking Club
Part of our Triple Play Mind Initiative, the Cooking Club is a 12 week junior chef program that introduces club members to fundamental cooking techniques such as measurement, food prep methods, proper use of utensils & kitchen appliances and popular recipes they can make at home that support Healthy Lifestyle choices.  3rd-5th grade Club Members.  Club Members must apply and have parent consent to join this club.

S.T.E.M Club

What happens when kids get the chance to apply science principles with current technology trends and devices? You get the S.T.E.M Club. S.T.E.M Club is a 12 Week Activity camp full of maker space, engineering and digital opportunities for Club Members to experience hands-on in the arenas of Flight, 3D Printing, Augmented/Virtual Reality, Coding/Game Creation and much more. Club Members must apply and have parent consent to join this club.

More than simply emphasizing a “say no” message, the program teaches young people ages 6 to 15 how to say no by involving them in discussion and role-playing, practicing resistance and refusal skills, developing assertiveness, strengthening decision-making skills and analyzing media and peer influence.
