Teacher – Pre-Kindergarten (Austin Campus)

This position requires the ability to apply knowledge of current preschool instructional theories, methodologies, techniques, and principles, knowledge of subject matter, and knowledge of State, Local, and Federal laws and regulations affecting the lives and education of students.  

Education/Certification:  

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university preferred.
  • Associates degree with five or more years of preschool teaching experience.
  • 5 or more successful years of classroom experience as an Educational Aide in a preschool environment.

Major Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the school’s curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required.
  2. Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
  3. Help student analyze and improve study methods and habits with CREATIVE strategies.
  4. Create a UNIQUE classroom environment that fosters learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
  5. Establish and maintain open communication with parents, students, principal, teachers and support staff.
  6. Keep informed and comply with state and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.

Additional Skills:  be able to successfully use the computer, interactive white board, document camera, digital camera and software necessary for administrative and educational tasks.

Location: This position is located at the Austin Campus in Austin, Texas.

Starting Annual Salary: $31,500.00

Youth Development Professional: Pre-Kindergarten (Austin Campus)

The Youth Development Professionals role is providing daily programs, services and activities for Pre-K aged students, which are consistent with the organization’s youth development mission and goals. Youth Development Professionals are primarily, but not exclusively, responsible for youth supervision, developing positive, productive relationships with students and overseeing the delivery of a broad range of programs at the Texas Preparatory School – Austin campus, such as Education, Social Recreation, Arts & Crafts, Sports-Fitness & Recreation and Healthy Lifestyles.

This person will work closely with the Pre-Kindergarten Teachers to plan & implement designated programs and activities that support Youth Development Outcomes for this age-group. The person will maintain Club program goals that insure the health and safety of members. The Youth Development Professional reports to the Site Coordinator.

Desired Documented Work Experience in:

  • Communicating with parents, students, employees and others;
  • Telephone etiquette;
  • Related study or work experience field;
  • Class-room management;
  • Basic Computers;

Qualifications:

Youth development Professionals are primarily, but not exclusively, responsible for youth supervision, developing positive, productive relationships with students and overseeing the delivery of activities in core program areas such as Education, Social Recreation and Music.

This person will work closely with the Site Coordinator to plan & implement designated programs and activities that support Youth Development Outcomes for this age-group. After School Program Support Clerk – After School Program (Austin)

The Program Support Clerk will assist the Program Director & Program Site Coordinator in managing and maintaining pertinent member, program and operational data. The Program Support Clerk will also serve to occupy the front office at the Austin Program Location and will be responsible for greeting members, parents, and visitors professionally daily. This person will compile, copy, sort, collect money, answer phones and communicate to the community. This position will report to the Site Coordinator.

Desired Documented Work Experience in:

  • Operating office machines, such as photocopiers, scanners, facsimile machines, voicemail systems and personal computers;

The Art Program Instructor is primarily, but not exclusively, responsible for youth supervision, developing positive, productive relationships with students and overseeing the delivery of the BGCSCT Art Curriculum within the Texas Preparatory School & San Marcos Units.

This person will work closely with the Program Director & TPS Education Director to plan & implement art activities & events that support Youth Development Outcomes for Kinder – 6th grade students of Texas Preparatory School and BGCSCT After School CLUB members in K – 8th grades. The person will maintain Club program goals that insure the health and safety of members. The Art Instructor reports to the Site Coordinator.

The Music Program Instructor is primarily, but not exclusively, responsible for youth supervision, developing positive, productive relationships with students and overseeing the delivery of the Music Makers Curriculum within the Texas Preparatory School & East Austin Music Academy after school program.

This person will work closely with the Music Program Director & TPS Education Director to plan & implement music activities & events that support Youth Development Outcomes for Kinder – 6th grade students of Texas Preparatory School and After School Program members in K – 6th grades. The person will maintain Club program goals that insure the health and safety of members. The Music Instructor reports to the Music Program Director.
