On March 16, 1994, the Willie Mae Mitchell Community Opportunity Center was established as a community-based youth organization. On Nov. 21, 2001, the organization was accepted into the membership of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America and was renamed the Boys & Girls Clubs of South Central Texas (BGCSCT).
BGCSCT provides children with a safe place to learn and grow. It is crucial all of our members are able to establish ongoing relationships with caring adult professionals, take advantage of a multitude of life-enhancing programs, be a part of character development experiences, and maintain a sense of hope and opportunity.
BGCSCT is a public, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization located in San Marcos, Texas.One of the BGCSCT’s most unique features is that it is one of only two clubs in the United States that operates its own charter schools. BGCSCT is fortunate to have two charter school; Texas Preparatory School- San Marcos, and Texas Preparatory School- Austin. Each campus implements BGC programs and operates according to the BGCSCT mission.
